Hello, one of our customers is asking how to configure the new web client to work with the Flow server. What is required? Do we need to purchase a domain like “http://flow-dev.customername.com” or not? How do we configure this? Does the Flow server need to be connected to the internet? What port is required?
To answer your question directly, the don’t need a domain. All customers access the Web Client via the same URL : https://web.novacuraflow.com/ . But if they want to run the NG client in the web browser the Flow server needs to exposed to the internet. But if you run the Web Form Flow Windows Client you can access the Flow server via a VPN. This is also true for the Mobile Clients.
There are two sets of Clients that you can run in the browser. One is a Legacy Client that is still around to support certain scenarios with closed networks.
Flow Legacy Client (old interface) no longer supported by Novacura.
-
Runs in the browser
-
The Client (computer) needs to access the Flow Server Web Client.
-
Each Flow server will have an unique web client address. IP or preferably a DSN address
Flow NG Client (Newer interface, smoother experience and supported)
-
Browser based Client. All customers use the same URL to access it: Client - Flow Classic
-
For the web app to connect to the Customer Flow Server the Flow server needs to be exposed to the internet.
-
There’s also a local Flow NG Client for Windows. Using the Windows Web Form the Client (user PC) only needs to have access to the Flow Server endpoints, then the server doesn’t have to be exposed to the internet.
