Press Buttons via Hardware-Buttons

Hey All

I have received two conflicting requests from our operational business.
We use Honeywell scanners with Android, which are about the size of a smartphone, and we have a “pistol grip” that allows you to start the scanning process.
Firstly, they want the button they use most often to be at the top so that they don’t have to scroll on the scanner, or at least not very much.
Secondly, they also want the button they use most often to be on the right and not on the left (because that’s “state of the art” ) if the two buttons appear next to each other because the texts are short enough. (e.g., “next” and “back”)
I explained to them that they can’t have both because the most frequently pressed button has priority 1, so it’s at the top but not on the right… Anyway, I’ve now thought that there might be an additional solution, namely if I had programmable buttons on the scanner or the “pistol grip” that I could assign. Two would actually be enough, one for ‘next’ and one for “back.”

Does anyone have experience with this and can recommend a solution?

Thx in Advance

Kind regards
Nico
